Technical Support Working Group (TSWG), a government interagency organization supporting the Government's war on terrorism, participated in an international conference to learn how law enforcement personnel were responding to the increased number of attacks.
TSWG found that law enforcement personnel needed to have better access to reference materials and new operating procedures to respond to incidents with maximum efficiency and minimal risk. In 2003, TSWG commissioned ITA to create a software application that would give law enforcement personnel the tools they needed to more effectively and safely respond to potential suicide bomber threats or incidents.
As a company with a track record for creating award-winning software applications, ITA began to assemble vast amounts of data related to document suicide attacks. A team of analysts and subject-matter experts poured over thousands of pictures and documents and organized the material into a comprehensive reference library.
Each of the materials was meticulously catalogued and entered into a digital format which would later allow users to quickly access information by clicking on pictures or keying-in search terms. Additionally, links were created to updated operating procedures for identifying potential suicide bombers, negotiating with suspects and reacting to an attack. ITA completed the interactive digital reference library titled, “Demystifying the Suicide Bomber: Reference Database and Guideline Standard Operating Procedures.”
Formatted to a CD-ROM for easy use in the field, “Demystifying the Suicide Bomber,” provides law enforcement personnel with easily accessible and readily available information.
